Q & A with our Recruiters: What is your Proudest Placement?
Few things in life have a bigger impact on an individual and their family than landing a great job. The right recruiter can improve the experience of every candidate by matching their unique characteristics, motivation, skills and talents with the perfect role, educating them so that they feel comfortable and prepared for the rest of the recruiting process and calming their nerves before the interviews begin. On the client side, there is the opportunity to effectively change the direction and the success of a corporation with a single great hire skillfully placed in a key role! Because of that tremendous impact, our expert talent consultants find it easy to maintain a high level of excitement and commitment to excellence.
We recently asked a few members of our team what placements they were particularly proud of.
Here’s what they had to say:
Mike Frost, Global Recruitment Consultant
I placed a CEO with a $150million business in Hong Kong, competing against another a large global recruitment agency and dealing with multiple stakeholders. It’s my biggest placement to date and after only two years in recruitment, it felt pretty good to be involved in negotiations of that calibre! It wasn’t particularly straightforward either, dealing with potential legal issues when moving someone of that seniority within the industry, as well as salary, package and relocation negotiations. By the end of the process I’d learnt a massive amount and felt like I’d improved as a consultant to our clients, which is how I want to feel after every placement – always learning and improving!
Jon Hale, Specialist Events Recruiter
I’m proud of all my placements but if there is one that I’m most proud of I would say it’s placing Emma Charter at ExCeL London as their new Marketing Manager for Conferences & Events. I asked if I could help ExCel to fill this role as I’d recently placed their new Event Manager. Emma was looking at moving away from her current employer to pastures new so after listening to what she wanted in a new role and matching that to ExCeL’ s requirements, it seemed as though this could be the perfect move for her. I coached her through her pre-interview nerves and made sure she was cool, calm and collected. I knew her personality would shine through and her skills would be clear for all to see! She nailed the first interview, second interview and was offered the role without question. The whole process from starting conversations with Emma to her accepting an offer was under 14 days. Emma is very happy at ExCel and hasn’t looked back!
Natasha Layal, Global Recruitment Consultant
I have to say, I don’t have one particular role I’m proud of filling – I get a buzz and satisfaction from each person I’m able to help, whether that be at Executive or Director level! Cliché, perhaps, but there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing I’ve made a positive difference to a person’s life and a difference to my clients business with the added bonus of building new relationships and sometimes even friendships. I’m proud of the feedback I get from both candidates and clients – I hear all the time that they find it really refreshing to work with someone who actually cares, understands and has broken that typical recruitment consultant stereotype!
